Are you ready for some football?

FINALLY. College football is back and the NFL season is right around the corner. Time again to visit the local sports bar and root for your favorite team. On these outings, I always tend to reach for an old jersey or t-shirt with my team's logo on it, but I decided to try something a little different and build an outfit around this referee-inspired blouse.

I got the blouse about a month or two ago from Rue21, and while I couldn't find it on their website, I found a similar one from Forever21

The skirt I got this past weekend from Charlotte Russe, and I absolutely love it. I may or may not have  gone back to the store the next day to get it in several other colors and patterns. (Spoiler alert: I totally did.)

The Elle ballet flats and watch are both from Kohl's, and both were under $25.

Lazy afternoons lead to...

fun with nail art!

All I needed was nail polish, scotch tape, and patience.

I chose Pure Ice: Risk TakerXTreme Wear: Mint Sorbet, and Diamond Strength: Flawless; I really liked the contrast between the silvery grey and the bright mint green. I put on a few coats of the silver polish, and waited about two hours to make sure it was absolutely dry (wet nails and scotch tape? yuck)

After that, I placed scotch tape pieces diagonally across each nail (pressing down on them to make sure that none of the mint polish could get underneath). Next, I applied the mint polish and removed the tape while my nails were still wet.

After waiting another 20 minutes or so for them to dry, I applied the clear top coat and voilĂ ! Fun, easy nails.

Out on the town

I spent the past few days on vacation in a place far, far away from the wonderful world of wi-fi. Roughing it in the mountains was definitely not conducive to stylish dressing, so I was thrilled to finally get home and ditch the t-shirt and sneakers. I made plans to go out for drinks tonight with a few old friends, so I spent this afternoon playing dress up...

Option 1:

Romper season is quickly coming to a close, so I have to wear this little one as much as I can in the next few weeks. I got this one from Rue21 a few summers ago for about 7$ from the clearance rack. (If you haven't checked out Rue's clearance racks before, do it. Seriously. It's a gold mine.)

The blazer I just got from H&M. (At first I thought it looked a little bit like a lab coat, but the more I wear it, the more it grows on me.)

The necklace and shoes are also recent acquisitions.

Option 2:

I love love love the wine color of the dress (H&M), and the teal of the necklace (Rue21). I'm digging the recent statement necklace trend, and this one seems to go really well with a lot of different outfits. I paired the outfit with gold jewelry (Rue21) and sandals (Charlotte Russe) to pull the look together.

Here goes nothing!

I am a night-owl, and instead of lying in bed staring at the ceiling (waiting for the sleep that so often eludes me), I try to pass the time by putting together interesting outfits, attempting outlandish nail-art, and experimenting with new hairstyles. I love finding inspiration in fashion sites, and finally made the executive decision to start one of my own. I'll share my attempts at fashionable creations as I try to develop and define my personal sense of style.

Thus begins my first attempt at blogging.

Nothing makes me happier than clothing sales. I managed to snag the lace tank and pink skirt from the sale racks at Urban Outfitters, both within the last couple of months and both for under $20. Light and bright for summer, and can transition easily into the fall with a cute sweater or blazer.

I purchased the shoes within the last week from H&M.
Under $30 AND comfortable to walk in? Yes, please.

And, as per usual, I finished the outfit off with my favorite watch.

Total outfit = under $100. :)
